Central Tigers football coach Jeremy Thompson said he saw improvement in Friday night’s home scrimmage against the Morris Eagles than he did the first scrimmage a week before against the Keys (Park Hill) Cougars.
“Our goal each and every day is to get a little bit better,” Thompson said. “We were sharper on the offensive side of the ball than we were the week before. Now, that we’re going into Week 1 (7 p.m. Friday at Heavener), we feel very confident. I think our guys are ready to go.”
The Tigers ran a total of 20 offense plays and played defense for 20 plays, but the varsity Tigers did not score.
“We had two good drives, but we didn’t punch one (touchdown) in,” Thompson said. “We looked good. We were good up front. I was pleased with the offensive line and how we ran the ball. I think it was what we needed going into Week 1. Morris was a good team. Offensively, they run option football, and it give us a look at something different that we won’t see typically throughout the year — which is something I like. It was short and sweet, and I think we’re ready going into Week 1.”
