Roland Lady Rangers win fifth-place game in Gore Tournament
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

The Roland Lady Rangers won the fifthplace game of the Gore Tournament on Saturday afternoon in Oktaha, where the tournament had to take place due to wet fields in Gore, as they handled the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors 11-1.

After taking a day off from the tournament on Friday, the Lady Rangers opened the tournament on Thursday by splitting their two games. After losing a heartbreaking contest 1-0 to the Oktaha junior varsity, the Lady Rangers defeated Okmulgee 10-1.

In the fifth-place game, the Lady Rang-ers (2-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI sacrifice fly by Addyson Clark and a two-out, two-run single by Emily Daws.

After the Lady Warriors scored their lone run in the second inning, the Lady Rangers responded in their half of the frame with another three-spot as a tworun double by Clark and an RBI groundout by Sara Qualls gave Roland a 6-1 lead after two innings.

Two Webbers Falls errors and Clark’s second two-run double of the game upped Roland’s advantage to 10-1 after three innings. Another Webbers Falls error in the fourth inning allowed the 11th run to score, and put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Clark was 2-for-3 with two two-run doubles, five runs batted in and a run scored, Jaydance Bean was 2-for-3 and Daws was 2-for-2 with a tworun single.

Daws (2-2) got the win, going the first three innings with three strikeouts. KyLeigh Knapp pitched the final inning with a strikeout.

In the win over Okmulgee, the Lady Rangers jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.

For the game, Scarlett Qualls was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Sara Qualls was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Bean doubled and had an RBI for Roland.

Daws got the victory, going the first two innings with three strikeouts, while Knapp went the final two innings with four Ks.

In the loss to the Oktaha JV, the Lady Tigers scored the game’s lone run in the fourth inning to break the scoreless tie.

In defeat, Clark was 2-for-2 with two doubles, while Sara Qualls, Scarlett Qualls and Aubrey Price all singled for Roland. Daws took the loss, despite two strikeouts in 4.1 innings.
