GANS SOFTBALL
The Gans Lady Grizzlies will bring a lot of experience to the diamond for this fall fastpitch season for their new coach — girls basketball coach Laney James, who is taking over the program from James Henry, who took an administrative job with the district in late July.
The Lady Grizzlies return five returning starters from last fall’s team, with two of those players seniors — pitcher Brianna Burris and first baseman Reina Goana.
Two juniors — third baseman Gabbie Price and catcher K’Cee Osborn — and sophomore outfielder Destiny Phillips round out the returning starters.
Three other key players slated to see quite a bit of playing time are senior outfielder Melania Paniagua and freshmen infielders Aaliyah Taylor and Makinzie Kimble.
Rounding out the roster are Makenzy Hunter, Brighton Dorsey and Autumn Ward.
“We have several returning starters with great batting averages and great fielding experience,” James said. “We also have a few underclassmen that will add several skills to our team. It’s going to be a great season, and we’re excited to get started.”
