Sallisaw Police officer Mark Rutherford reported two people were injured in a threecar collision that happened on the afternoon of July 21 on Cherokee Ave. and West Mc-Gee St.
Rutherford said all three vehicles were reportedly traveling west on Cherokee Ave. in the inside lane when a 2018 Jeep Compass driven by Austin Taylor of Sallisaw was stopped, yielding for traffic as he was going to turn left across traffic.
A 2022 Suburban Outback driven by Jessica Harris of Muldrow then came up behind Taylor and stopped. A 2004 Chevrolet TRB driven by Austin Lockhart of Sallisaw then struck Harris’ vehicle, causing Harris to hit the back of Taylor’s vehicle.
Lockhart and Harris were both transported by private vehicle to NHS Sequoyah hospital in Sallisaw. Both of their vehicles were disabled and towed from the scene, according to the accident report. Taylor was uninjured and his vehicle received minor damage Rutherford listed contributing factors to the collision as distraction inside vehicle for Lockhart, and no improper action by driver for Harris and Taylor.
