In regular monthly meeting
In a regular scheduled board meeting held on July 10, the Muldrow Public Board of Education gathered at 6 p.m. to reorganize the board officers and make employment decisions.
The first order of business involved the reorganization of the board officers. Dowen Green transitioned from president to member, Chad Sutton from vice president to president, Darrin Phelps from clerk to vice president, Darin Huggins from member to clerk, and Colby Wilson remained as member.
The meeting then moved on to consent agenda items, which included resignations from Carissa Campbell, Dara Fowler and Melissa Johnson; 2023-24 General Fund Encumbrances 1 to 174 for $2,065,798.77 and Building Fund Encumbrances 1 to 6 for $339,648.06; General Fund payroll encumbrances 50000 to 50020 for $1,370,264.34 and Building Fund Payroll encumbrances 50000 to 50002 for $163,638.19; along with the appointment of Glenda Fouts as a substitute teacher for the 2023-24 school year.
During the superintendent’s report, Superintendent Clifta Fugett discussed the upcoming OSSBA/CCOSA Conference from August 24 to 26 and the Riley Boatwright Act.
The board discussed and unanimously passed the 2023-24 school calendar and authorized Fugett to notify the State Department of Education Accreditation Department regarding the decision to continue using hours to determine the calendar.
Also approved for the 2023-24 school year were:
• Appointments and authorizations for the school year
• To transfer $200 from the General Fund to the Activity Fund petty cash for the start of the school year
• Activity Fund accounts • Bread bid from Tankersley; Milk and juice bid from Hiland Dairy
• Vehicle lease agreement with Jace Newby
• Changes to policy DECA within the District • E-Rate Management Services agreement with Kellogg & Sovereign Consulting At 6:14 p.m., the board members voted to go into executive session to discuss employmentrelated matters.
Returning to open session at 7:11 p.m., it was declared the board had discussed the listed items and all present members were in attendance during the session.
It was then announced the employment of Tiffany Sagely was passed as a middle school teacher on a temporary contract for the 2023-24 school year; along with the employment for several certified part-time positions on temporary contracts for the upcoming school year.
The positions included Tracy Ryan as a middle school English teacher, Kathy English as the Special Education Director, Darryl Tyler for high school Driver’s Education/bus driver, and Mary Peevy as middle school counselor.
The employment of Maxwell Bedwell was also approved as a custodian on a temporary contract for the 2023-24 school year.
The meeting concluded at 7:15 p.m., following all agenda items and decisions reached during the gathering.
