TULSA – The Golden Hurricane Champions Fund reached all-time highs of greater than $2.6 million and 1,780 total members in its recently completed fund drive, TU Athletics announced Thursday.
Tulsa reached $2,621,771, surpassing the $2.5 million goal by $121,771, while the Champions Fund also added nearly 1,000 new members.
As the University of Tulsa athletics’ primary fundraising arm, the Golden Hurricane Champions Fund strives to provide every Golden Hurricane student-athlete with the opportunity to realize a world-class athletic and academic experience.
“We have increased our fund drive totals in each of the past three years, but after surpassing $2 million a year ago for the first time in school history, we went into this drive with a very lofty goal of $2.5 million,” Director of Athletics Rick Dickson said. “On behalf of our student-athletes and coaches, I extend our sincere thanks to all those who participated and continue to tell TU’s story by encouraging friends and family to join to the Champions Fund.
“The success of the Champions Fund, both for money raised and increased membership, shows the continued trajectory of interest and support for our athletic programs. I hope that even more alumni, letter winners, Tulsans and Oklahomans see the impact their financial support can have on TU athletics and our over 400 student-athletes.”
TU remains committed to providing the greatest opportunity for its student-athletes to excel academically, athletically and in the community.
