Roland – Funeral services for Gregory Franklin Wilson, 69, of Roland, were at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Roland, under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services, Inc. of Sallisaw.
Mr. Wilson was born on June 17, 1954, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Joseph Franklin and Thelma Jean Wilson. He died on Sunday, July 2, 2023, in Tulsa.
He was a 1972 graduate of Roland High School and worked for Hunt’s Department Store. He also served the town of Roland as a police officer and town administrator, and was a founding member of the Roland Fire Department. He would go on to work as an investigator for the OSBI and worked at the Sequoyah County Assessor’s Office. He was also the owner of Ranger Corral for a time and a member of First Baptist Church in Roland.
Survivors are his wife, Venita Wilson; children, Crystal and Tim Johnson, Tiffany Wilson and Casey and Alex Bryce; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Sue Spivey and Debbie Richards.
Pallbearers were Tim Johnson, Alex Bryce, David Richards, Daniel Richards, Skylor Serjeant and Tristan Palmer.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Richards, Ronnie Rogers, Heath Wood, Paul Borum, Bill Spivey, Joe Wilson, and all active and retired members of the Roland Fire and Police Departments.
