Funeral services for Lavone (Dillard) Poindexter, 89, of Siloam Springs, Ark., were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Agent & Mallory-Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial was at Brushy Cemetery under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Poindexter was born on Jan. 15, 1934, in Spiro to Edna (Allen) Martin. She died on Monday, June 26, 2023, in Bentonville, Ark.

She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith. Survivors include one daughter, Lana Sells of Siloam Springs; three sons, Terry and Denise Poindexter of Rock Island, Jim and Crystal Poindexter of Shady Point, and Tracy and Tara Poindexter of Broken Arrow; four sisters, Darlene Kaufelt of Watts, Laveta McCalister of Rogers, Ark., Georgie McGarrah of Tonitown, Ark., and Josie Mounce of Siloam Springs; two brothers, Leroy Martin of Tahlequah and Jimmy Martin of Centerton, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband, Gerald Poindexter, on Feb. 8, 2004; one son, Rick D. Poindexter; two sisters, Mary Drain and Ruby Martin; and one brother, Charley Martin.
