Oxford facing fourth charge of indecent acts to child
By AMIE CATO-REMER EDITOR,

A Sallisaw man charged in March with three felony counts of lewd or indecent acts to child under the age of 16 is facing a fourth charge for the same offense in Sequoyah County District Court.

Stephen L. Oxford, 29, was also charged in March with a felony count of child neglect and two counts of threaten to perform act of violence. His newest charge was filed on May 5 and a warrant was issued for his arrest the same day, according to court records. He is now scheduled for a May 24 felony disposition docket before Associate District Judge Kyle Waters.

According to an affidavit in the case, Oxford was alleg caught on video sexually abusing a child at a Roland apartment complex.

Roland Police officer Chris Waters reported on March 22 that authorities received a call about an individual having a video on their phone of a child under the age of 16 being sexually abused. The officers went to the apartment complex where the abuse allegedly occurred and informed them of the information they’d received.

The individual brought the phone to the police department for review, which reportedly showed the juvenile on a bed with a male identified as Oxford. According to the affidavit, Oxford exposed himself to the juvenile and a sexual act occurred before leaving the room.

The juvenile was reportedly interviewed and told authorities Oxford allegedly threatened the juvenile, telling the juvenile not to tell what happened or he would “not give the juvenile food” the “juvenile would be whooped” or he (Oxford) “might kill the juvenile’s mom.”

The affidavit states Oxford made the juvenile perform the sexual act on more than one occasion.

District Attorney Jack Thorp said if found guilty of lewd or indecent acts to child under the age of 16, each count is punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for not less than 25 years.
